SIGOMA Parliamentary Group announces new leadership team at a critical juncture for local government

Posted on September 17, 2025

We are pleased to announce the new leadership team of SIGOMA’s Parliamentary Group.

Sally Jameson MP has been elected as Chair, with Sarah Hall MP and Josh Fenton-Glynn MP confirmed as Vice Chairs.

With the future of local authority financing under review, SIGOMA’s Parliamentary leadership team will play a vital role in ensuring the voices of urban councils are heard and reflected in policy decisions.

Sally Jameson MP, newly elected Chair, represents Doncaster Central. Elected in July 2024, she brings a strong background in public service, having previously worked as a prison officer and chaired her local branch of the Prison Officers' Association. Her deep commitment to social justice and regional equity makes her a powerful advocate for SIGOMA’s mission.

Commenting on her election, she said: “I’m honoured to lead the SIGOMA Parliamentary Group. Our councils are the backbone of public service delivery in some of the most vibrant and resilient communities in the UK. With funding reform on the table, it’s more important than ever that we stand united and push for a fairer, more sustainable settlement for our members.”

Sarah Hall MP, elected Vice Chair, represents Warrington South. A member of the Labour & Co-operative Party, she was elected to Parliament in 2024. Prior to her election, Sarah served as a councillor for Bewsey & Whitecross and held the Cabinet portfolio for Children’s Services.

“It’s a privilege to serve as Vice Chair of SIGOMA,” said Sarah Hall MP. “I’ve seen first-hand how local government can transform lives, and I’m committed to ensuring our towns and cities get the support they need to thrive—especially as we navigate this crucial funding reform process.”

Josh Fenton-Glynn MP, also elected Vice Chair, represents Calder Valley. He previously served as a councillor and cabinet member for Adult Health and Social Care in Calderdale. His career spans roles with Oxfam, Child Poverty Action Group, and the General Medical Council, reflecting a lifelong commitment to tackling inequality and improving public services.

He said: “Our communities need a strong voice in Westminster to ensure our councils get the investment and opportunity to support the vital local services our members rely on."
