“Making sure we get a fair share”
Posted on November 13, 2025
This week, SIGOMA Parliamentary Group Chair and MP for Doncaster Central, Sally Jameson, spoke to the LGC about our lobbying efforts to ensure the best possible deal for our communities:
‘Through the Sigoma group her role involves “lobbying for our councils that have been overlooked for so long, and making sure we get a fair share”.
In Doncaster where, “by the time you’ve paid for statutory services, there isn’t a huge amount else”, Ms Jameson said she envisages additional funding making a “huge difference to people’s experience of local public services”.
“People are eager for change,” she added. “They voted in a Labour government because they wanted change. And I think it’s important that we’re able to deliver visible results on that.” …
Ms Jameson said the visible results of better services include: cleaner streets, grass being cut and potholes being filled. “It will give councils the money and the capital to be able to do those things in a way some areas haven’t been able to properly for a long time.”’
